Typically, a student must obtain a collegiate GPA of 2.5 or higher, community service experience, and involvement in clubs or community activities. Each NPHC organization has its own requirements set by their inter/national organization and UIS chapter.

Tips for supporting your student during the recruitment/intake process:
- Allow your student to make his/her own decision. Learn as much as you can about Greek life and the membership experience
- Keep an open mind
- Understand the University and State Laws about hazing
- Talk to your student about the financial obligations and membership requirements
- Just because you鈥檙e a Greek alumnus, doesn鈥檛 mean your student is interested in the opportunity
