Benjamin Walsh, associate professor of management at the University of Illinois Springfield, has been named University Scholar for 2017. The award, considered the university system鈥檚 highest faculty honor, recognizes outstanding teaching and scholarship. Only one faculty member receives the annual award at UIS.

鈥淒r. Walsh鈥檚 achievements in both scholarship and teaching are impressive,鈥� said one of his nominators. 鈥淚n the six years since completing his doctorate, he has shown documented promise of becoming the very best in his field.鈥�

The University of Illinois Springfield Research Board has honored two former graduate students, both from Sangamon County, with awards for their master鈥檚 thesis projects for the 2016-2017 academic year. The awards were presented during a ceremony on February 8, 2018.

The advisors of Beta Gamma Sigma, Profs. Atul Agarwal, Shipra Gupta, and Neetu Singh with the help of the CBM staff, organized a warm and inspirational virtual event to celebrate the success of the college鈥檚 best students.

University of Illinois Springfield Director of Study Away Programs Jonathan GoldbergBelle has been named as the recipient of the NAFSA: Association of International Educators鈥� 2021 Hugh M. Jenkins Award for Excellence in Community Programming.

The University of Illinois Springfield鈥檚 Harry and Deborah Berman Sabbatical Award has been presented to Sharon Graf, professor in the Sociology/Anthropology department. She will receive $3,000 to support her research during her sabbatical leave.

Graf鈥檚 sabbatical plan is to conduct a second phase of ethnographic field research in Oceania that will contribute to the scholarly body of knowledge on the cultural practices鈥攊ncluding art, music, the performing arts and seafaring鈥攐f the inhabitants of the Pacific Island region. 

罢丑别听University of Illinois Springfield, Junior League of Springfield and the United Way of Central Illinois honored more than 50 Sangamon County volunteers and businesses during the virtual 13th annual Good as Gold Ceremony. The winners were announced in聽a video released Monday on the UIS Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center鈥檚 website.

The Alpha Alpha Gamma chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education, at the University of Illinois Springfield inducted eight new members during a virtual ceremony on April 11, 2021.

Tondalaya Reece, program coordinator for the Institute for Legal, Legislative and Policy Studies, was chosen as the winner of the 14th annual Chancellor鈥檚 Award for Recognizing Excellence in Civil Service (CARE). The award is the highest honor annually awarded to a Civil Service staff member at 天美传媒 Springfield.

Interim Chancellor Karen Whitney announced the winner of the award during an online ceremony on April 8, 2021. She also thanked all civil service staff members for their dedication to UIS.

The University of Illinois Springfield 18th annual Chancellor鈥檚 Academic Professional Excellence (CAPE) award was presented to Stacey Gilmore, director of the Cox Children鈥檚 Center during an April 8 online ceremony. 

The CAPE Award recognizes U of I academic professionals for their efforts in three categories: work projects, professional development and affiliations and contributions to their units.

University of Illinois Springfield聽Assistant Professor of Management聽Sudeep Sharma, Ph.D., has been awarded a fellowship from DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service) to be a visiting pr
