Celebrate Astronomy Day on April 29 with a Star Party at Lincoln Memorial Garden. Join us on the Cawley Meadow (weather permitting) to share and celebrate the night sky. There will be constellation tours and telescope viewing of the Moon, Venus, Mars, and more.

The event is free and open to everyone. See the Lincoln Memorial Garden website for directions and parking information.

The event is outdoors so prepare yourself with bug spray, appropriate shoes to walk on the meadow and appropriate dress for the weather.

Join us for a Star Party at the Central Illinois STEM Fair on March 30 from 6 - 8pm at the Rochester High School Athletic Complex. Weather permitting, we share views through a telescope and answer questions about the night sky Bring the whole family! There is something for everyone at the Central Illinois STEM Fair. After looking through the telescope you can browse the other science and technology activities and demonstrations for all ages.

Please joins us to view the annual Perseid Meteor Shower from the Cawley Meadow at Lincoln Memorial Garden on August 12 from 8:30-10pm (weather permitting). John Martin (University of Illinois Springfield Professor of Astronomy-Physics) will be give tours of the sky and answering questions and the Sangamon Astronomical Society will be sharing views through their telescopes.

People attending the event at Lincoln Memorial Garden should park in the spaces just off East Lake Shore Drive. Observing will be done in Crawley Meadow across the street from the nature center. The event is outdoors so attendees are encouraged to wear bug repellant, dress appropriately for the weather and bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
