Ashley Hall has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for December 2022. She is the director of the UIS Student Union.
Hall鈥檚 nominator praises her for covering the workload of multiple vacant positions within the Student Union staff for more than a year and learning new skills to make sure work was completed.
鈥淎shley is always willing to help and does it with a smile on her face,鈥� said her nominator. 鈥淪he is an awesome student supervisor and at the same time, really good at working with both internal groups using the Union and visiting groups having events there. With so much going on at the Union, it seems like Ashley is involved with so many things at UIS.鈥�
Her supervisor, UIS Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Ann Comerford, praises her work, saying 鈥渟he makes things happen.鈥�
鈥淪he is consistently providing support to student organizations, staff, and outside users to hold outstanding events in the Student Union,鈥� Comerford said. 鈥淪he rarely says no 鈥� she finds ways to make things happen. She is dedicated to student success and the success of the Student Union. She is a problem solver and is in the 鈥榯renches鈥� with student employees to get the work done.鈥�
Hall has championed the Stars Supply Stop inside the Student Union, which provides school supplies to students at no cost.
鈥淎shley has done a lot to make this a success,鈥� said Comerford. 鈥淪he shops for items, fundraises, tracks data and markets the service. This is truly a great service to our students. It was an idea from a student employee and Ashley ran with it.鈥�
She has also used her positive energy to organize birthday cards for everyone in the Student Affairs Division. She joins committees, she supports programs and services across campus and she tries to volunteer for other department programs when time allows.
鈥淎shley knows that the little things can make a difference,鈥� Comerford said. 鈥淪he puts in the work every day. She is the energizer bunny- she keeps going and makes everyone smile around her. She is very respected and liked across campus.鈥�
Hall also stays involved professionally as a member of the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Region V Leadership Team. She also presents for ACUI at regional and national conferences.
