The UIS Visual Arts Gallery presents 鈥淎 Public Commons,鈥 an exhibition by Service Works

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present 鈥淎 Public Commons,鈥 a project building on UIS' history of being an institution focused on openness, innovation and adaptability. The project recreates 鈥渢he pit,鈥 a popular 1970s Sangamon State University (now UIS) classroom known for its lack of desks and chairs.

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present 鈥淕emstones,鈥 a group exhibition that features an accomplished roster of local, regional and national artists that have also served as donors to the gallery. The exhibition will open with a free public reception from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, and will run through Thursday, July 27.

WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield and the Springfield Art Association present 鈥淜rzysztof Wodiczko: The Art of Un-War,鈥 a film screening and Q&A with Krzysztof Wodiczko and award-winning filmmaker and artist Maria Niro. The film documentary chronicles the life and political work of Wodiczko, an internationally acclaimed artist. This event is free and open to the public.
