 Join Pattie Piotrowski and Mallory Jallas for an informative workshop on Open Educational Resources (OER). They will delve into what OERs are and how they can benefit both faculty and students. They will share insights from the Illinois Secretary of State's OER grant, including practical examples and best practices. Additionally, they will present survey data from ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½s, highlighting their perceptions and experiences with course materials.

Designing Syllabi Using Social Justice and Inclusion Principles

Join Dr. Hypatia Bolívar as she explores the Psychology Department's ongoing multi-year initiative to create a comprehensive handout and syllabus template rooted in social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. In this engaging session, Dr. Bolívar will outline the collaborative process behind developing these materials, highlighting challenges faced and strategies employed to ensure they align with the core values of inclusivity and equity.

A Call to Think: Engaged Citizenship Jan. 30

Join Chancellor Gooch and Steve Schwinn, professor at the UIC College of Law, for the inaugural event of the new Chancellor’s Thinkers Series. They will discuss Engaged Citizenship and take questions from the audience 5-6:15 p.m. Jan. 29 in Brookens Auditorium—no RSVP necessary. The Chancellor’s Thinkers Series seeks to inspire diverse perspectives and encourage intentional thinking within our community and will feature esteemed guests from a variety of disciplines.

UIS is once again offering a half-day Professional Development Retreat as part of our Rise initiative. This semester’s retreat will take place Friday, January 31, and is focused on Workplace Communication. All civil service, academic professional staff and faculty are welcome to attend to learn how to communicate with anyone in any circumstances in the workplace.
